FUEL EFFICIENCY

Offering our most technologically advanced lineup ever.

With 5 vehicles getting 30+ mpg.

E85 ETHANOL

E85 Ethanol vehicles can run on either gasoline or E85 — a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline — or a combination of both. E85 ethanol fuel is a cleaner — burning, mostly renewable fuel source made from mostly U.S. — grown biomaterial, such as corn or other grain products. It helps reduce greenhouse gases and can enhance the nation’s economy and energy independence. Availability of this special fuel varies by state. Find a station near you.

ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT

Active Fuel Management™ shifts from eight cylinders to four and back again. In situations where extra power is not needed, such as cruising down the highway on level roads, Active Fuel Management™ deactivates half of the cylinders with seamless precision. When load demands increase, such as when the vehicle accelerates or travels uphill, cylinders are reactivated to provide full power. Best of all, you don't have to do a thing and it all happens seamlessly. Watch how it works.

AMERICA’S FIRST FULL-SIZE TWO-MODE HYBRID SUV

The 2008 Tahoe Hybrid, available in two- or four-wheel drive, provides the power and capability you expect from a utility vehicle while offering fuel efficiency you never imagined — an outstanding EPA estimated MPG of 21 city, 22 highway for 2WD models, and 20 city, 20 highway for 4x4. In fact, 2008 Tahoe Hybrid 2WD offers the same EPA estimated city fuel efficiency as a four-cylinder Toyota Camry.

Tahoe Hybrid optimizes efficiency and performance whether you're driving in the city or on the highway and offers up to 50% better city fuel economy over the non-hybrid Tahoe. And it's one of the many ways GM is working to reduce our dependence on petroleum.

Tahoe Hybrid is lowered in both the front and rear and features other aerodynamic enhancements, including integrated assist steps with flared fronts, streamlined hood and specially tuned fascias and front air dam. Another difference between Tahoe Hybrid and the normal production model is the inclusion of Tahoe Hybrid-specific badging and graphics.

In addition, the hood and liftgate are made of lightweight aluminum and the low-mass aluminum wheels are outfitted with low rolling-resistance tires.

CONCEPT CHEVY VOLT

Seventy-eight percent of commuters drive 40 miles or less to and from work.(1) If we could change the technology behind these daily drives, imagine how much gasoline and money we could save while helping reduce emissions. It might be possible with a vehicle capable of running on electricity, E85, biodiesel and gasoline fuels.

The New Electric Vehicle
Introducing a new kind of electric vehicle — Concept Chevy Volt. It’s unlike any previous EV (electric vehicle), thanks to its innovative rechargeable electric drive system and range-extending power source. It can be configured to run on electricity, gasoline, E85 or biodiesel. So you have at least a couple of options for the most efficient drive — all made possible by GM’s innovative E-Flex Propulsion System.

Features You Can Use
Off-the-line torque is instantaneous, giving you responsive acceleration. Plus, this four- to five-passenger sport sedan still maintains the passenger and cargo capacities of a production car.(2) You'll also enjoy the benefits of features you've grown to expect — driver and front passenger air bags(3) and the StabiliTrak Stability Control System, for instance — as well as new convenience features allowing you to charge certain small electronic devices without plugging them in.

Concept Chevy Volt is just another way Chevy is working to bring you drivable and practical vehicles that help decrease our dependence on petroleum and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This major advancement in existing technology will make it possible for those short, up to 40-mile or less commutes to be gasoline-free.

CHEVROLET EQUINOX FUEL CELL

Chevrolet is committed to bringing you drivable and practical vehicles that decrease our energy dependence and reduce our emissions. And now, as part of a market test, we’re bringing you a real-world vehicle with fuel cell propulsion technology. Announcing the Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell. It uses the same breakthrough propulsion system that powers our advanced Chevrolet Sequel concept vehicle.

Fuel cell technology is seamlessly integrated with all of the comfort and safety of Chevrolet’s current-production, gasoline-powered Equinox. The biggest difference is that Equinox Fuel Cell doesn’t run on gasoline. Still, it is fully functional, carrying up to four occupants and their gear.(1) Plus, it’s engineered to reach a top speed of 100 mph.

Equinox Fuel Cell has been crash-tested and is designed to meet all applicable 2007 U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. And you will enjoy the benefits of driver and front passenger air bags(2), the StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System, four-wheel antilock disc brakes with Traction Control, and OnStar. On the outside, you’ll notice premium Tricoat paint and unique styling that is distinctively Chevrolet.

This advanced vehicle puts us one drive closer to a future of sustainable transportation. And soon, we’ll be giving real consumers a chance to drive Equinox Fuel Cell in the test program Project Driveway.
